My professional career in heavy construction and excavation started when I was 18 in California when construction was booming. The early tasks were labor intensive - I spent most of my days those first few years at the end of a shovel. I worked my way from the shovel up the ladder and first started operating heavy construction equipment for my stepfather, who was a landscaping contractor. As time went on and my skills grew, I moved into operating heavy equipment for the developer that my stepfather was contracting with at the time. When they decided to sub-contract all the work that I was doing for them, I began working for A&B Backhoe in Canyon Country, CA at the age of 21.
This was my first full time job on a backhoe, where I learned the ropes of operating a backhoe inside and out - doing all the types of jobs that come with backhoe and excavation projects. My skills included commercial construction excavation, residential foundation excavation, grading, trenching and land clearing contracting. I had a knack for heavy equipment, yet this is where my skills were really honed and challenged. As my career grew and my skills progressed, I went on to work for other contractors doing bigger and more complex jobs. Along with precision backhoe and excavation work, I also learned how to construct water, sewer, and storm drain systems (main line and lateral), along with septic system installation.

In 2001 I made the permanent move to Durango CO, at which point the business changed from an operated backhoe rental service to full service excavation contracting. In this expanded capacity, Accurate Backhoe and Excavation was born, which back then and today continues our focus on custom home construction, septic and utility construction, light commercial projects and occasional large commercial construction.
As I look back at my history I see a common theme, precision backhoe work - and I am reminded that it was not by accident that I chose the name Accurate Backhoe and Excavation. I chose this name to reflect what I have to offer my Durango construction and excavation clients: the ability to dig with extreme precision and exceptional efficiency.
I now work with my son Cody in the business, who has learned over the years watching and working my side the finer skills of the backhoe and excavation trade. I am proud to have Cody on the team, as he upholds our gold standard of Precision, Accuracy an Professionalism. This is what Accurate Backhoe and Excavation is all about, and it's our promise to you on every job we do. We are proud to be a Durango CO based excavation services company since 2001.
